The Habitual Drunkards! : 14.30
The Habitual Drunkards are Jon Benton and Tony Rogers, two middle aged men who used to play in rock and roll bands. However all the standing up got too much for them and they decided to form an acoustic duo. This allowed them to sit down, perform in small public houses and make good music whilst enjoying good ale, a most excellent formula that has worked like a charm for the past six years. They perform music by The Everly Brothers, The Band, Jonny Cash, Van Morrison, AC/DC, Steve Earle and many more, all done whilst enjoying a beer or two and a good chat with the assembled throng!
Kaz Unplugged: 15.25
With influences ranging from chart music to classic rock ‘n’ roll Kazz unplugged is a performance of a collection of well known acoustic covers.
Kazz (real name Josh) began his music career playing electric guitar and singing with the band Hollow Resistance 7 years ago. Since then he has moved away from a band scenario and into acoustic solo performances, with the occasional guest feature. Expect to hear songs in a very different fashion.
The Jitters: 16.25
Rokin Deke Rivers & The Jitters are a three piece band of vocals, electric guitar, double bass and percussion. They perform performs a selection of Raw 1950s Rockabilly and Rock n Roll music. You may have seen them perform in and around york, including as a regular at Bishop Wilton Show.
Rachel Croft: 17.30
Musician and songwriter based in York, Rachel’s complex and rich vocals play over rhythmic fingerpicked guitar. Her alternative folk songs are inspired by ethereal Celtic melodies and the thoughtful lyrics of storytelling songs, which narrate her experiences living and busking in the city. Having performed for a number of years as the vocalist in the Croft and Mullen jazz band, notes of soul and the
Great American Songbook are instilled in her vocal style. She is influenced greatly by Eva Cassidy, Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell and Matt Corby, as well as more contemporary artists such as London Grammar. Having played the main stages of Warwick Folk Week, Bromyard Folk Festival and Beverley Folk Festival among others for her first year on the festival circuit, 2018 promises to be an exciting time for Rachel.
Monkey Punch: 18.30
Monkey Punch are a 5 piece band that is steeped in the Ska/Mod and Punk culture that is unique to the UK. They play a fun mix of music from each genre from the 70’s/80’s and 90’s as well as throwing in a few tracks that they have adapted to their unique style. If you want to dance and then when your tired, dance some more, this is the band for you. Fun, fast and toe tapping with a hint of “Madnesss”.
Grinny Grandad: 20.00
Grinny Grandad have had a pretty interesting career, from playing Glastonbury, Radio 1 sessions, music in Grand Theft Auto games and numerous TV shows, to securing deals with Finger Lickin’ Records and Freshly Squeezed,
to gaining support from the likes of Groove Armada, Craig Charles, ASkillz, and Keith Lemon (!), yet these guys still remain humble. Fusing Funk, Breaks, Swing, Ghetto-Funk and surreal references to humour with old school record-crate creativity, you end up with an infectious brand of subterranean pop that makes you feel good in side. 2017 saw the release of Grinny Grandad͛s multi-chart breaking single “(You’ve Got To Be) Free” and latest single “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” featuring the Breakspoll award winning Kymberley Kennedy on vocals, soon to be joined by their long awaited album following their signing to Freshly Squeezed Music (JFB, Swingrowers, 12 Stone Toddler).
CopOwt: 21.15
CopOwt have been mainstays on York’s thriving pub circuit for the last ten years. Playing a mix of classic indie, punk and pop classics from the last thirty years. Influenced by such diverse artists as The Undertones, Billy Idol and Oasis through to Robbie Williams. Highlights of the last ten years include providing the pre-match entertainment at a York Knights rugby league game that was broadcast live on Sky Sports, playing at the KC Stadium in Hull, playing on the festival stage at Copmanthorpe Carnival and in 2018 playing at the Grand Opera House in York for York Rocks Against Cancer.
